Lifestyle Engineering Barcelona
Our Mission
We believe that the most profound life experiences happen when people connect deeply and support each other to fulfill their paths. We believe in self-actualisation, unconditional love, and collective support to achieve one’s destiny. This is why we create co-living spaces to intentionally live as a community, work as individuals, and play as a tribe, in order to help each other strive to become our higher selves.
“Enhance your transformational journey through intentional co-living.”
The LE House Barcelona
We are creating a curated living space and a way of being. An environment designed around shared values and inhabited by like-minded individuals who care about advancing one another’s personal, professional growth and expanding consciousness.
Our tribe lives together and grows together through building powerful relationships with people that love, challenge and elevate each other. The highlight of the stay is the transformation that occurs through the connection and interaction, leaving the house as a more complete, serene and advanced human being.
Our Core Drive
We believe every human being has the potential to live an extraordinary life filled with happiness. There are millions of books that say exactly how the world’s top performers earned their success. There is no secret formula. Our goal is to enable the right environment for people to be stimulated and take proactive action onto their own life.
Our Values
We all share similar values and want to embrace our diversity, initiatives, and awesomeness. The LE Barcelona House is based on the following principles:
Awareness
You are invited to be mindful and aware how you show up in the world, you are invited to go inward and observe how your thoughts and emotions appear and disappear and how the experience of you emerges into existence.
Do-Ocracy
If you have an idea, this principle invites you to “do” or “create” and just go for it. You don’t need permission to be extraordinary here.
Unconditional Love
We are inviting you to act from a place of love, acceptance, and compassion towards individuals inside the tribe and let that be your guide instead of any formal set of rules.
Authenticity
“Be what you are. This is the first step toward becoming better than you are.” - Julius Charles Hare
Vulnerability
“Vulnerability is not weakness. It’s about the willingness to show up and be seen when you can’t control the outcome. It is our greatest measure of courage. Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change” - Brene Brown
Lifelong Commitment To Learning And Growth
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” - Mahatma Gandhi
The House Principles
Communities function well when values are applying organically. The following principles will help everyone feel comfortable, included, and pushed towards his/her higher self.
-
Set and share intentions: our whiteboard and dinners will be used for everyone to set their daily and weekly intentions. Help your fellow members to reach their intentions and respect their stage in life.
-
Be actively sharing and caring: whenever you create something for yourself, offer it to others in the amount possible (for example, do coffee for the three people who are awake instead of only yourself).
-
Celebrate life and community: we will have dedicated gratefulness and chosen family dinners, and create time to deeply connect between ourselves and get the best experiences out of this month.
-
Communicate and respect boundaries: each one of us has different boundaries and expectations. It is important to communicate those proactively, establish discussions and respect each other’s boundaries. For sensitive topics, we’ve created an anonymous feedback form.
-
Distributed and autonomous organizational structure: this principle is about decentralizing power within the house so that each member is empowered to take bits of ownership and keep this organism healthy and happy. The idea is to also automate as much as possible so as to reduce the amount of overall decisions that need to be made within the system. For example, if you see a fire, you don’t need to seek permission from some central leadership figure to put it out. But it also means that in certain cases, we do need a central leadership figure to emerge in the interests of efficiency and speed of decision making while that’s necessary. Each of us is empowered to act within the organism for the benefit of the organism and that means depending on what part of the organism you happen to occupy and your level of exposure to the relevant information, you may be better positioned to respond at any given time or maybe trust the decision of others and follow their leadership. Let’s see if we can tap into the wisdom of what works from the billions of years of evolution we see in nature and cooperative organisms.
Avoiding “The Tragedy of the Commons”
“The tragedy of the commons is an economic problem in which every individual tries to reap the greatest benefit from a given resource. As the demand for the resource overwhelms the supply, every individual who consumes an additional unit directly harms others who can no longer enjoy the benefits. Generally, the resource of interest is easily available to all individuals; the tragedy of the commons occurs when individuals neglect the well-being of society in the pursuit of personal gain.” (source: Investopedia)
“The Tragedy of the Commons” is the reason for global warming, pollution, overfishing, deforestation, water pollution and more.
When common resources are shared, people may not treat those resources as their own and ultimately abuse them. Before we focus on solving the big problems the world is facing, we shall be able to practice what we preach. Leaving dishes in the sink may not be that much different than throwing a plastic bottle in the ocean.
At the LE House, we refuse to exploit the common resources for our own benefit. We are all loving, well-intentioned and conscious people who strive to actively add value to the life of others.
To avoid the tragedy, we’ve created the following rules:
- Clean the kitchen after you use it. The “I’ll do it later” mindset does not work in co-living.
- Clean the bathroom. Hell yes, someone else will like to have a letting-go ceremony after you. Do not leave your personal belongings in the bathrooms.
- Don’t leave your personal belongings in the common spaces. For example, your laptop or article of clothing shall not be left in the common spaces. Please don’t leave your laptops on the table and leave.
- No shoes in the house.
- Communicate on the WhatsApp group when having issues and when buying shared items. Those will be logged afterwards.
If you believe any additional house rule should be set up, please let us know :)
The Future of the LE Houses
The Barcelona house is the third Lifestyle Engineering house, after last year’s 2017 Barcelona House and the Tulum House.
Our intention is to create even better spaces around the world in the future and help create transformational experiences that happen when you put together live, work, and play.
With love and truly yours,
Gui & Renat
